If you are planning a trip to Europe or another place with lots of pick pocket thieves, you will need to make an extra effort to keep your phone safe. The stories that you hear are real – most major cities, like Paris, Rome, London, etc have pick pockets everywhere you look. After traveling extensively throughout Europe, I have compiled some tips and tricks for keeping your phone safe during your trip.

    • Bring along a phone lasso or leash. They are quite cheap, and will give you a sense of protection, while keeping your phone easily accessible for photo ops. You can use the carabiner clip as pictured, or you can use the included lanyard necklace. You can also attach it inside of your purse (though if you have a purse, go for one like this).

How to keep your money, passports, and credit cards safe while you’re in Europe

  • Bring a special purse, like this one. Although it may look perfectly normal, this purse has great features to keep your things safe. It features a locking main compartment, RFID proof sections for cards and passports, and the strap is slash proof. Using a regular purse could allow somebody to cut your strap and run, or unzip your purse and take what they want. You may think that you would notice somebody accessing your purse, but from experience I can tell you that you most likely would not notice until the thief was long gone.

Bring a money belt. These are hands down, my most favorite thing to keep my passport and money safe. There are three types, giving you lots of options. Use these to stash important documents, cards, and cash.

  • Money belt. Slips inside of your waistband like a very thin fanny pack. Easily accessible, but nearly impossible to see and access for thieves. This is my top choice.
  • Belt loop money pouch. This pouch attached to your belt, and tucks inside of your pants. It is similar to the belt, but can be relocated a bit more easily.
  • Money lanyard. This necklace holds the same items, but is less secure. somebody could see the lanyard, yank it and run if your shirt doesn’t cover it entirely. Thieves may also see the imprint through your shirt. It is still a great idea if it is what works best for you, but I would consider the other options first.

5 Tips for getting tickets to the Ellen show https://stroopels.com/5-tips-for-getting-tickets-to-the-ellen-show/ https://stroopels.com/5-tips-for-getting-tickets-to-the-ellen-show/#comments Sat, 17 Mar 2018 07:51:01 +0000 http://stroopels.com/?p=60 Unfortunately, the Ellen show is no longer open for business. Sorry.

Here are 5 of the best tips for getting tickets to the Ellen Degeneres show.

  • Consider mixing up the days that you apply for. The Ellen show typically films two shows on Thursday’s, potentially increasing the chances of getting a ticket for that day. However, don’t exclusively apply for Thursday’s, because you will limit yourself by doing that. Each time you apply, try another day.  Another thing about days, many people will want days closer to the weekend since they can spend more time on their vacation that way.
  • Realize that just because you see that a day is open to apply for, that does not mean that there are still tickets for that day. It simply means that they are still accepting applications for that day. You are not guaranteed a ticket until you have received and responded to communications from the Ellen Show. Even then, shows are subject to cancellation.
  • Check the website daily, even a few times a day, so that you are able to apply right when tickets become available for your selected day. So far, we have not found any particular pattern for when they release tickets.
  • Wait. As much as I dislike waiting for things, you will need to wait for two weeks after applying before trying again. Multiple attempts to apply within that time frame can negatively impact your chances. The Ellen show recommends to wait for two weeks, then try again if you don’t hear from them.
  • Use an email address that you don’t receive a lot of mail to (but which you check regularly). That will help make sure that you won’t accidentally miss a communication from the Ellen show. Most communication from the Ellen show is in the form of an email.

  • There are several more tips on this page, including what to wear, where to park, and where to line up once you finally get your ticket to the Ellen show. The article also includes a link to the application for tickets. There are also Standby tips.

I hope that you found this article on the best tips for getting tickets to the Ellen Degeneres show to be useful. If you’re interested in Ellen’s Game of Game’s, perhaps this article would be a good read for you as well.

Luggage that fits the Ryanair dimensions 55x40x20 CM https://stroopels.com/luggage-that-fits-the-ryanair-dimensions-55x40x20-cm/ https://stroopels.com/luggage-that-fits-the-ryanair-dimensions-55x40x20-cm/#comments Sat, 10 Mar 2018 07:01:11 +0000 http://stroopels.com/?p=46 Ryanair is constantly changing things. They call it “Always Getting Better,” we call it “Always Getting Worse.” If you’re confused about their luggage and hand baggage rules, you’re not alone. It seems almost as if the complete information about bag sizes is intentionally difficult to find. They make it clear how small your personal item needs to be, but it’s tricky to navigate to their page which details the exact size your larger luggage has to be. Below, you will see that we have dug deep, and found the current regulations for you. We have also included links to our favorite luggage that is within the guidelines for RyanAir. So, if you want to maximize the amount of luggage you can bring on your RyanAir flight without paying excessive fees, then this is the article for you.

RyanAir can be an affordable option if you understand what you are getting yourself into. Often times, they are the only airline that flies a particular route that you need, and charges a reasonable price. Remember to double check their guidelines on their website before booking your flight, as these guidelines seem to change often. If you’re not quite ready to buy a bag today, add it to your cart so you don’t have to search for it again when you are ready.

The basics:

If you buy the cheapest ticket, and do not opt for the priority ticket, you are only allowed to bring one, small bag, which is 40 x 25 x 20 CM. In Inches, that is 15.748 x 9.842 x 7.874. To sum up how big that is, a standard American carry on bag is around 56 x 36 x 23 CM, or 22 x 14 x 9 inches. Chances are, your regular go to bag, isn’t going to make the cut.

If you get a priority ticket, which is about 6-12 Euros/Pounds at the time of booking, then you get to bring the small bag mentioned above, as well as one that is 55 x 40 x 20 CM, or 21.65 x 15.748 x 7.874. Now, pay particular attention to that last number… 20 CM is just under 8 inches. However, most American carry on bags are about 9 inches deep. If you bring a standard carry on bag, and they check the size at the gate, you could have all sorts of issues ranging from extra fee’s, to being denied boarding. If you don’t think they actually check, you’ve clearly never been on a RyanAir flight before. Every RyanAir flight that I have been on has checked our bags just before getting onto the plane. I’ve seen many people charged at the gate for their extra 1 inch of luggage.

The Solution:

Bring a bag that will be within the dimensions, or be prepared to pay. It’s really that simple. Luckily, we have found some affordable bags that you can use on your trip, and not have to worry about having problems at the gate. Here they are:

Inateck 40L Travel Backpack

This pack measures 55 x 34 x 18 CM, which is just right for the larger bag on RyanAir flights.

TravelCross Chicago 20″

This luggage is technically 0.126 inches too big to fit the RyanAir requirements, but it’s so close that you could probably squeeze it into the cage if they ask you to.

Great standard bag

Another great option is this one, which measures 20”x 6.75”x 12.75″ inches (or 50.8 x 17.2 x 32.39 centimeters). Also available on Amazon.

A potential alternative

This one does NOT quite fit the dimensions for Ryanair, so please be aware of that. We give it an honorable mention though, because it is 8 inches deep, which is so close to 7.87 inches deep, that you may not encounter any problems. But, that definitely depends on the employee’s that day, how stuffed your bag is, and other factors. So, if you get this bag, just be aware that you may have an issue. Here are the actual dimensions of this bag in inches: 19″ H X 13″ W x 8″ D (48.26 x 33.02 x 20.32 CM). It is Available on Amazon.

Although Ryanair has a stricter limit on the size of carry on you can bring, it does also allow you to bring an additional small bag.

Ryanair’s policy (as of November 2018) is that you are allowed to bring a small bag onboard with you. That bag can measure up to 40 x 25 x 20 CM (15.748 x 9.842 x 7.874).

Small bag:

We weren’t able to find any perfect matches for the dimensions, but this bag is pretty close, measuring in at 16″ x 10″ x 8″ which is less than 1/4 of an inch more in each direction. Honestly, most gate agents probably won’t  notice or care. But, there’s always the possibility that they may. If you don’t jam it full then you could easily press this into the size checker if asked.

Have a great trip!
