Absolutely free! And every year… It doesn’t work out. You get half way into putting in all of your tax forms and suddenly you see a message like “Because you have an HSA, you need to use our deluxe software, which is $34.99 for Federal and $29.99 additional per state.”

But, there’s another way – several other ways. If you make less than $66,000 per year, you can use some of the same companies through the IRS and get your taxes filed for free (for actual free). Check out this list of companies participating in the program that allow you to file for free. I decided to use the Turbo Tax program listed because it is a company that I already trust. I filed both Federal and State and they were legitimately, 100% free.

Be aware that not all states are participating in the free State file program. However, even though my state isn’t “participating” I was still able to file my State taxes for free as well. So, choose wisely.

AMC A-list https://stroopels.com/alist/ Mon, 24 Dec 2018 05:21:03 +0000 http://stroopels.com/?p=301 Is AMC A-list worth the hype? Is it really that great of a deal? Yes. Yes it is.

After MoviePass lost all of my trust from intentionally misleading customers and drastically changing the terms of service on customers, I decided to look into other options.

AMC A-list offers the following features:

  • See up to 3 movies per WEEK (vs 3 per month with MoviePass)
  • See any type of film – 3D, Imax, D-BOX, etc without an upcharge (vs only 2D with other companies)
  • No blackout dates
  • No online fees
  • 10% back on food and drink purchases
  • FREE size upgrades on popcorn and fountain drinks
  • Priority Lanes at the box office and concessions.

Compare this to Movie Club and MoviePass, and you will see that this is the best value if there is an AMC near you.

One side note with A-list is that there is a minimum service period of 3 months, billed monthly. But honestly, for what you get, 3 months isn’t that bad.

Last year, MoviePass offered an annual subscription paid upfront, and then changed the entire program, making it so people couldn’t use the very features which they signed up for. The worst part was that customers had already paid for the year, so they were just out all that money.

With A-list, a 3 month commitment isn’t really that bad. Plus, they are a company that I can trust, VS MoviePass who I have absolutely ZERO trust in whatsoever. I would literally trust a stranger with a map to a pirates treasure before I trusted MoviePass again..

Discounted prescription glasses https://stroopels.com/glasses/ Tue, 16 Oct 2018 05:49:25 +0000 http://stroopels.com/?p=242 Glasses are expensive. Way expensive. So when I found myself needing a new pair recently, I cringed at the thought of dropping the standard $200 or more for a single pair. I usually wear contacts, so glasses are just a back up for me any way.

I did a ton of research, and stumbled upon a website offering prescription glasses, including the frame and lenses, starting at $6.95. Surely, this had to be a scam, right? Because, seven bucks is outrageously cheap. I scoured the web to confirm my suspicions, but everywhere I looked, the company had legitimate, great reviews.

I decided to give it a try, using a one time use debit card, just in case. To my complete shock, there were a lot of options for the $6.95 advertised price. There were enough options that instead of getting one pair, I got three. Because, seven bucks, duh.

Now, as with most companies out there, there were some upsells at checkout.  The one in particular that was highly recommended, and which I chose not to refuse, was the anti-reflective coating for $4.95 per pair. I was ready for this though, because every time I have ordered glasses from anywhere, they have stressed the importance of this feature (though it’s generally more like $50 to add)

Now I had really gotten myself into trouble – each pair was now going to be $11.90 – oops. After getting everything just the way I wanted, I found myself staring at the dreaded shipping page. Oh no, I thought, how much is this going to cost me? Brace yourself… $5.00 for the whole order.

So, at this point, I had ordered 3 pairs of glasses with anti reflective coating, conveniently shipped right to my house and the total cost of the order was under $45.

In under two weeks, they arrived. Each pair was in it’s own,  high quality case, complete with microfiber cloths. And as far as quality goes, they were indiscernible from any other pair of glasses I’ve had before. All in all, it was a success in every way. I’ve worn them several times and they have been fabulous.

With all of the money I saved, I could finally get myself some of those super helpful things that clean both sides of the lenses at the same time. My glasses game has never been more on point.

If you want to get yourself a sweet new pair of glasses for a great price, head over to: Zennioptical.com.

If you have a great company in mind that you get your discount glasses from, be sure to comment and let us know about your experience. We are always looking for a great deal!
